Back to school

Now that school is back after a week of break, things seem to be going good. The students are working hard and making amazing progress on their games and blogs and etc. I feel so blessed to have such hard working students. The only problem seems to be keeping them on task. They are so talented at maneuvering the computers to so many tasks at the same time, sometimes they seem to get a little lost.
Otis and I are struggling through our game designs. I think we are making progress, even though we are still overwhelmed. I look forward to hearing from him. We lost our initial design, and learned a valuable lesson about the importance of saving often! We have much to learn! Thanksgiving was great, but still looking forward to a possible snow day soon.

Thanksgiving Break

Now that the dust has settled and the initial panic has decreased from the training in Charleston, I have some mixed emotions. I am still excited to get started with the students. I appreciate the work they have already put into their games. I have a renewed understanding of the amount of time and energy required to create and design this type of game.
I am still enjoying the time with my family. My family and I are having dinner with my wife's family, and then traveling toward Pittsburg to see a WVU and Pitt football game with my family. We may have an opportunity to start some Christmas shopping. Now, I have to depend on my memory, which is not one of my strong points. I hope to be in contact with my team member, Otis, soon. I hope everyone is having a great holiday!

Reflections after first day in Charleston

     Although still feeling mentally drained, I am looking forward to the second day of globaloria tomorrow.  Actually, some things seem to be making a little more sense.  The time I have spent on the sites tonight have been beneficial and addictive.  Honestly, I seemed to lose track of the time I spent on the computer, which is not a bad thing!  I feel like I need more confidence and comfort with attempting to move around on the sites.  I enjoyed reading some relative blogs.  I particularly liked  http://emilysglobaloria.blogspot.com/ and  http://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=4774051683518953958. 
     I am thoroughly convinced that globaloria is a tremendous opportunity for students to learn various skills and apply them in real world situations.  I am still in awe of the work so many students are willing to perform in a successful manner.  The  benefits and connections applicable for students seem unlimited!  The growing pains and stress of learning the rules and regulations seem to be minimal compared to the success it provides.
